In January 2009, we started a new era; the Strauss era. After
Kevin Pietersen resigned over the issue of the coaching staff (head coach
Peter Moores also departing, leaving Zimbabwean batting coach Andy Flower
to take over temporarily), Andrew Strauss (55 tests so far, age nearly 32)
was appointed to take over. Coming
up was the winter tour to West Indies. (In fact the second tour of the
2008-09 winter, following the 3-test tour of India under Pietersen, which
was dramatic due in part to its on-off nature following the terrorist
attacks on Mumbai earlier that month). This
seemed a suitable starting point. Select
